Im gonna get this.....yeahoo!!!!

OR

After months of calculating and re-calculation, budgetting and re-budgetting, evaluating the pros and cons of getting a new car.........Rach & I came to conclusion to purchase either the all new facelifted Honda Jazz or the new Impul Latio Hatchback. Why? With the uncertainty of our nation's policies and rising inflation, why on earth do you want to buy a car now?.....
*
Im currently driving an Iswara.......much to my dislike and due to my shortage of cash 2 years back, I have no other option but to settle with a Proton. The car itself didnt give me much problems, yes they were creaks and sounds coming from the car after just 5 months driving, having bumped around the corners from some ignorant stupid drivers......I still must give her the credit, being able to sustain our harsh Malaysian road conditions and my driving "skills".
*
When is "the" best time to buy a car? Now, wait for another year, another 5 years or maybe not buy at all. As many of you are aware, Proton cars devalue at a higher percentage over other makes. The longer I wait, my car would have no value at all. Furthermore, a new car could consume less petrol than the existing Mitsubishi engine, that drinks petrol as fast as it pisses. So why wait?
*
Then it came to the final stage......choosing a brand, a Honda or a Nissan. I wanted a white Honda with the sexy curves but Rach wanted a red Impul Nissan Latio coz there were not many Impuls around town, so can actsy a bit lar.....especially in Kuantan. We didnt argue, we talked and talked and talked....but did not come to a conclusion. And so, here we are still talking...to this very day. Based on the technology, I think both cars are almost equal, the price almost at par, the shape.....both sexy. So guys, what say you?

y don't u wait until next year for the Persona Electric? about 80k and not need to use fuel at all, coz it is totally on electric, not hybrid.

1 thing good about it is the electric engine is a german engine. no need to worry about petrol if u buy this Persona Electric.
:)

i am also waiting for this car to launch officially
:)

I heard that it is not a good timing to buy car at year end. If u buy now, your car will be a 2008's car. But if u buy 3 and a half month later, your car will be a 2009's car. So, when u plan to sell your car in the future, u gain one year.

Is Jazz a bit too 'sporty' for a married man? Sorry, no offence, just my own opinion.

pete, if it gets facelifted as a convertible then i dun mind...hahaha

cc, yup it looked as good as it handles the road.

garfield, no offence but made up my mind to say no to proton. id rather pay a bit more expensive for the quality build and value.

josephine, yah....i know about this. but what's one more year of value depreciation....5% / 10%. i only think of the petrol that i can save now for the future.....

why not a Honda City instead? Worth the value + low petrol consumption + 'BIG' enough for u & wife + future kids..... haha

Buy a house! LOL!!!...Any old car will do!

Calvin,

Malaysians gravitate towards the badge of Toyota, Honda... second tier probably Nissan, but I am sure you will not be disappointed with Suzuki. Price wise, space wise.. I love the SX4 sedan but.. The SX4 Crossover would be nice if they put in a 4WD option.. But if you are a bit more adventurous... go and check out Hyundai Elantra INCUS fitout.. 2liter at just above 100k.. the interior is as big as the previous model of accord.

garfield, Pesona Electric? Nice if you have a house... I live in a pigeon hole.. I wonder how to pull the extension down 16 storeys to recharge my car.. :(.

Personally I quite like the handling of Persona... but I hate the campro engine.. pickup is a drag! Wonder if they will put in the CPS.. that would give the car higher torque.

anonymous, thought about it already. now still contemplating.

suituapui, already got a house d. bought it early this year. not planning for investment too soon....

mjoe, why have i not thought of hyundai...what about toyota altis. heard the price is right, and the space is quite large for a family...

Malaysian Joe said...

Altis? 1.6? You are going past the 110+ line... Elantra is only 100+ and the one without Incus is 90+, SX4 and SX4 crossover is 80+.. if you have gone to Altis.. well maybe Civic??? hehehe... up the food chain..

@Malaysian Joe,

from wat i heard, it only require 1 time charge, when it is fully charge, then the wheel will move the generator with transformer to recharge it back itself. so basically, no need to use cable to charge.

about campro engine, it is the base part of CPS mah, of course CPS better lor. the reason they still not put CPS into persona yet, is bcoz they wan to clear stok, hahah they made too much campro engine already. but still, when campro reach certain speed, the power will be double up, which it is actualy mivec technology(curi from mitsubishi again, but it is good, lol)

@Calvin,
for me, i dare to buy this persona electric, coz it is a german made engine. the best part is, no need to pay for petrol, just higher roadtax. by the way, between handa jazz and latio, i think latio is a better choice, since nissan engine is better on fuel consumption and able to last longer compare to honda.

Malaysian Joe said...

@Garfield.. I heard that a full charge can take the car 300km.. but I understand from others that the car recharges in capasitor/transformer or whatever you call it mode. But I remembered hearing through news on TV that the persona once charged is good for 300km. Anyway, I think its best to find out more before committing to an electric car although the benefits seem fantastic at 3sen/km... you can cruise Malaysia everyweek!

mjoe, dunno lar. i test drive my colleague's altis....very comfy and price so, so. honda civic very sporty..but i dont like the dashboard. they say its driver friendly, but i still like the traditional ones. not too much colours...kinda feel like in a disco...hahaha

garfield, by the way you put it, the car should be good, at least better than the current pesona. but im always afraid of proton. whenever they come out with something new, there's always a problem. unlike perodua. got any idea on the price tag?

mjoe, if the car only takes me 300km, then i will be stuck in between terengganu and kelantan because i will have to travel 3 states most of the time. ktn to kota bahru will take at least 500km for 5-6 hours non stop drive. then, i'll have to call for a cab, a bus or walk....hahaha. good exercise, can reduce my love handles and tummy fats...lol

The new honda city is coming soon. Its beautiful. Wait for that one.

Anonymous said...

@mjoe,
yeah, i am preparing to buy that persona electric after it launch half year, hahaha.

@calvin,
of course lar, perodua is daihatsu mah, until now, thier nautica is also a daihatsu car, just locally assemble only. but the current persona also is good enough already.
and for the persona electric, no need to worry about that, although saying a full charge can go up to 300km, but it keep on recharging itself when the car is moving, 300km is means after full charge and u cabut away to recharger.

but anyway, since it is in electric, dunno wat will happen if the car got 1 hole at the hood there when raining, lol

Calvin,

I am sure in future they are gonna have park & charge spots for cars.. :).

Garf,

I would also think that the electric car would be a good choice. Provided its "RELIABLE" Knowing Proton.

Calvin Soo KJ said...

warrior2, the honda sales man also informed me. but i wanted to ask for a civic and he responded asking me to wait or the new city. where can you find a more responsible and straight forward salesman nowadays....hahaha. either he dont want the commission now or he's being very honest.

garfield, we'll wait and see. but proton......have to convince my wife. she's already fed-up. her dad's waja was sent to the workshop more than 10 times in 2 months.

mjoe, hahaha. im sure about that.
